Being part of the 2025 Cheyenne Christmas Parade was an experience I’ll never forget—and even more special because it was my very first time ever participating in the parade.
The adventure began on Friday, November 28th at 10:00 a.m., when I met up with some familiar and friendly faces from the Cheyenne karaoke scene, including our amazing karaoke host, Rocky. That day was all about preparation as we helped decorate the American Legion Christmas float. We added festive candy canes and wrapped the float in Christmas net lighting, transforming it into something truly parade-ready. We worked for about three hours, laughing, chatting, and getting excited for the big day ahead.
The next morning—Saturday, November 29th—was parade day. I drove downtown to meet up with the karaoke crew, but quickly remembered (a little too late) that many of the roads were blocked off. I almost missed everyone already on the float! I ended up running past the Capitol building in 13-degree weather, which was very cold to say the least. Thankfully, I caught up with the group—but then realized my bestie Melissa and her husband weren’t there yet. They arrived shortly after, just in time.
We ended up waiting nearly an hour before our float started moving since we were float number 146. Standing still in that kind of cold wasn’t easy, but Rocky kept spirits high by playing EDM Christmas music. Some spectators were definitely curious about the music—EDM isn’t exactly what people expect at a Christmas parade—but hey, this is Cheyenne! It added a fun and unique vibe to the experience.
Once the parade began, it was absolutely magical. We sang Christmas carols together, karaoke-style, with the lyrics displayed on a screen in front of us. Along the route, I spotted my Mom, Aunt, and our good friend Carolyn in the crowd. My mom made sure to snap a great photo of me on the float—one I’ll treasure forever.
After the parade ended and we returned to our starting location, I noticed two people who looked lost. I asked if they needed help and learned it was a CNA and her patient who couldn’t find their car. I drove them around downtown until we finally located it, and they were incredibly grateful. It felt really good to help someone in need—especially during the holiday season.
After that, I met up with my Mom, Aunt, and Carolyn at Village Inn, where we also ran into Melissa and her husband. From there, we made our evening plans, which of course included heading to Alf’s for karaoke, one of our favorite spots to sing and unwind.
Overall, the 2025 Cheyenne Christmas Parade was a fun, freezing, joyful, and unforgettable experience. From decorating the float to singing carols, helping strangers, and ending the night with karaoke, it was truly a day full of holiday spirit. If I’m able to, I would absolutely love to be part of the parade again in 2026.
